Wishbone Ash - Good band. Tight!
Uriah Heap - WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW! Stole the show! Great showmanship from entire band!
Vocalist was good, great showman. Guitarist very good, great showman. Bassist was really good! The drummer just blew my mind, really talents fucker!
Deep Purple - A little disappointing. I would have gone to just watch drummer Ian Paice and of course the legendary Steve Morse on guitar! The keyboardist was also fucking good. Ian Gillan was struggling with his voice though, and didnt have good stage presence!
But, at the end of the day, R450 for 5 hours of good rock, cant go wrong!

The Good
The bands. Wishbone Ash and Uriah Heep were both incredible. Deep Purple was so-so, relying mostly on Steve Morse to do some incessant noodling while Ian GIllian clenched his chest and slapped his thighs with a tambourine. It is always a pleasure to see bands itn this league and they had a very warm Jozi welcome. The 1 dude from Uriah Heep even wore a Bafana shirt. Very misguided but it's the thought that counts.
The Bad
This is an 18 k seater venue with bathroom facilities behind each and every wing on each and every floor. Which were all closed because some dumbfuck decided he's going to make 18 k people stand in a line in front of about 3 sections of indoor chemical toilets. That's right - they had out houses on the inside. Even though they have bathrooms. But they closed the bathrooms. Explain that logic to me?
There was no separate bathroom facility nor separate bar in the golden circle area. This would have aided in alleviating not only beer filled bladders but congestion in the entire venue because - guess what? There are 18 thousand people in this spaza shop. 18 thousand people they knew about months in advance. Not that I want special treatment because I was suckered into spending R450 on Big Concert's crap organisation, but I am convinced that if 18 thousand people can at least stick to their immediate vicinity without having to move through 7 or 8 areas to get to a shack bathroom or crowded beer stall, you'd have less people bumping into each other, less people missing bands, less people with eyes watering and less people breaking into your store room to take a piss.
The Ugly
Rock 'n Roll will never die, unlike Barney Simon. Turns out there is a god after all.

The bathrooms at Entrance 3 was open, don't know about the rest. Did see the crappy chemical toilets where we were standing. Bar queues were ridiculous, but found one that went very fast while Uriah Heep was doing their encore. In and out in less than 10 minutes. Still, way overpriced. R90 for a six pack? Seen plenty of people with tour shirts, but didn't see any merch stalls inside. Which is probably a good thing, since I don't really need more clothes. I'm just greedy.

Encore? I missed that. I would've loved that. Oh the merch stand was on the opposite end of the venue between 2 entrances, both of which were closed soon after everyone was inside and they had neither beer stalls or food stands anywhere near it.
The bathrooms at Entrance 3 were open until Uriah Heep started playing, after which they were closed too. As far as I can tell, those were the only bathrooms that were open in the entire venue all night.
